  • Filing and Maintenance Requirements

    A person shall be liable if he, without the permission of the owner or the person in charge of a computer system, commits any of the following acts:
    - Securing access to the system
    - Downloading data or copying them
    - Introducing virus
    - Damaging the computer or the computer system or computer network or data or network
    - Disrupting the computer system
    - Blocking access to another authorized user
    - Assisting another person to get access to a computer, computer system or network in contravention of provisions of law
    - Charging service availed of by a person to another person by tampering with or manipulating computer, computer system or network
    - Destroys, deletes or alters any information residing in a computer resource or diminishes its value or utility or affects it injuriously by any means
    - Steal, conceals, destroys or alters or causes any person to steal, conceal, destroy or alter any computer source code with intention to cause damage

  • Penalty

    Whoever contravenes any rules or regulations made under this Act, for .the contravention of which no penalty has been separately provided, shall be liable to pay a compensation not exceeding twenty-five thousand rupees to the person affected by such contravention or a penalty not exceeding twenty-five thousand rupees.
